One-upping the Segway. Paint it black, supercharge it, and I'd be interested.
As happy as I am that 20 tons of cocaine are now off the street, and thankfully in the hands of the Coast Guard, rather than Mexican officials, I've got mixed feelings on the whole thing.
I heard on the radio it was $500,000,000.00 worth of cocaine. Awesome right? Yes and no. Yes, because there are less drugs on the street. No, because the drugs on the street just got a lot more expensive and desirable, and consequently more worth fighting for.
I'm not supporting the legalization of cocaine, which in my opinion is one of the worst drugs known to man, but I fail to see any measurable success in the taking down the drug trade altogether. You don't win by cutting supply, you win by cutting demand. The less supply, the more demand, which drives the creation of more cocaine enterprises. It's like the band-aid is feeding the infection. But it's not like we can legalize it to reduce demand. Once you make cocaine cheap, you expose millions more who are willing to "try anything once," to a devastatingly addictive behavior. That would be social suicide for any government.
I don't pretend to know the answer, and I don't believe any government can annihilate the cocaine industry. But maybe the "war on drugs" should be more focused on reducing demand.

Good bloody hell. Stalinism in Boston:
A reenactment of the Virginia Tech massacre has caused some serious problems at a Boston school. According to a local paper, an Emmanuel College adjunct professor was fired after replaying the incident to prove his pro-gun view.Proving a policy wrong, or even the pursuit thereof, must be the equivalent to seriously discrediting an entire religion. I just don't see it any other way; they are willing to silence the critics of their belief in defenselessness, no matter how many lives it will cost.
[...]
The Boston Herald reports that Nicholas Winset, 37, of Newton, received a letter by courier that informed him of his termination. During his reenactment, the paper said Winset, an adjunct professor of financial accounting, was trying to prove that if there were more guns in society, someone might have been able to stop the massacre.

The only reason I'm blogging about her is because I felt the urge to Google her name after the recent news about her and Sheryl Crow getting into it with Karl Rove at the White House Correspondents' Dinner. And no, I won't talk about that incident.
But I did find something interesting on her blog at HuffPo.
She criticizes Rush Limbaugh for pretty much being an idiot about global warming. But au contraire, Ms. David is the one who speaks without thinking:
Global warming causes extreme weather in BOTH directions. For example, the reason the blizzards are getting worse in the Northeast is because the Great Lakes are no longer freezing over...So if the Great Lakes no longer freeze over, what the hell do you call this?

Just a reminder, for those who are interested, I'll be hosting my monthly Second Amendment Carnival this Saturday. If you've got something good you'd like to have in the carnival, just go here or send it to freeconstitution at gmail.com.
It's been a busy month for 2A related issues, so this carnival should be a good one.
Another thing, I've been really busy the last several weeks, and if you haven't noticed, my blogging has been light. Hopefully that will change soon, but it doesn't look that way. There's a possibility I may have to give blogging up.
I know I have a few die hard regulars, and I can't thank you guys enough.

The other Asian shooter is now rotting in Hell. I blame the gun culture. It's not nearly big enough.

If we had the proper level of self-respect, we wouldn’t act like it’s only a crime when a white man disrespects us. We hold Imus to a higher standard than we hold ourselves. That’s a (freaking) shame. -Jason Whitlock.

An excellent guest editorial over at the War on Guns.
And another tidbit I found in the comments:
"Years ago my Kindergarten teacher taught me that it "takes two to fight". One of my classmates taught me that if I don't fight back it only takes one to kick my ass all over the playground."

Was most likely the reason behind the kidnappings and subsequent release of the British sailors and marines, not to mention the photo-ops and parades.
If you didn't gather that already.
The SF Chronicle words it nicely:
Not only did Iran demonstrate a willingness to forcibly confront other powers, it helped erode Blair's already crumbling public support, sent a shock through the oil markets and gave Ahmadinejad a chance to look like a forgiving friend rather than the zealot he is often perceived to be.Joseph Nye would call this a manipulation of their "soft power," and although I'd like to think everybody knows it was a ridiculous stunt on the part of Iran, but within the context of Iraq, Iran scored; Britain -not quite. Nor the West for that matter.
At some point, the Iranians apparently decided they had gotten as much out of the crisis as they were going to get.

Here's a new website you may find interesting. This issue needs to become both more national and more local. These two guys could give us some pointers on how to do the latter.
If you're looking for an interesting summer weekend consider heading to our nation's capitol from June 14-16th for the 'March For America." The weekend will be filled with excellent speakers, interesting panels and an opportunity to meet patriots from all over the country who wish to see our borders secured. We plan to be there and that weeks burst will be live from DC with interviews and footage from the march and speakers.

Nothing spurious here folks, this is genuine. Pirates are dying off fast, on the verge of extinction, so I am going to implement some tax-funded pirate sanctuaries, since obviously as you can see, their presence minimizes rising temperatures. I mean, there's such a clear connection, like CO2 and rising temperatures.
And how dare anyone claim dwindling pirate numbers are merely the effect of rising temperatures; do you know what that could do to my grant money for pirate sanctuaries!?! You ignorant bastard.
