Not much time so here's a roundup of today's news:

President Bush on the anti-terror/interrogation/tribunal legislation, angry at the GOP's blockage:

Bush urged lawmakers to quickly approve legislation authorizing military tribunals and harsh interrogations of terror suspects in order to shield U.S. personnel from being prosecuted for war crimes under the Geneva Conventions, which set international standards for the treatment of prisoners of war.

But I do think the McCain lemmings may have a point, albeit not what one would think. The bill is supposed to clarify a treaty on the treatment of detainees, but one provision of it says no to torutre and yes to "coercive interrogation". I understand such a difference, but don't think it would do justice in clarifying the law to people who think torture is plucking eyebrows. Perhaps McCain thinks plucking eyebrows is torture, or perhaps he thinks SCOTUS will throw it right back. Stupid.

5 years after 9/11, the Senate voted to tighten security at seaports by scanning virtually all incoming cargo for nukes or dirty bombs.

And oh how sweet, Hugo Chavez will help defend Iran against an attack. One more reason to topple the Chavez regime.
