Thought the gap in our border security was bad? Well, here's more proof of the gap in our agents' ethics.
According to this story, a Customs and Border Protection officer was charged for helping smugglers sneak marijuana across the Canadian border for sex and money:Desmone Bastian, 30, was arrested Thursday on a warrant charging him with receiving a bribe and importing a controlled substance.
And this is on the Canadian Border. Less manned, easier to cross. There the demand for an inside-man is low, you can imagine the situation south. Or you can read for yourself.
The indictment was filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Seattle, according to court documents.
On or about Feb. 5, 2005, Bastian failed to inspect vehicles and people smuggling pot through the Blaine border crossing and into Whatcom County, according to the indictment.
