Communist/Sandanista Daniel Ortega has a good lead in the Nicaraguan presidential race.
Why worry? Add another Latin American Communist to the Chavez/Castro alliance; one who was previously overthrown with the help of the United States.
And Nicaragua could be the next temporary member at the UN Security Council.
From the Irish Examiner:With a little over 7% of polling stations counted, Ortega had 41% to 33% for Harvard-educated Eduardo Montealegre of the Nicaraguan Liberal Alliance...
Ortega is being backed by Hugo Chavez. Chavez is also pushing for a Nicaraguan seat at the UNSC, coming after the stalemate over Venezuela and Guatemala.
Ortega needs 35% of the vote and an advantage of five percentage points over his closest rival to avoid a runoff in December.
