of the Second Amendment Carnival
Providing the best 2nd Amendment coverage the blogosphere has to offer.
"Guns don't belong in classrooms. They never will. Virginia Tech has a very sound policy preventing same." -Larry Hincker, Assoc. Vice President of Virginia Tech, September 5th, 2006
"To disarm the people... was the best and most effectual way to enslave them..." -George Mason, 1788

Another look at McCarthy's feel-good HR 1859, and why it's almost as stupid as its sponsor. Courtesy of the Constitution-worshiping Kurt Hofmann.
And if you haven't seen it, video of the knowledgeable sponsor.
Assert your freedom, you didn't miss national Buy a Gun Day did you? Ron couldn't wait. Maybe if you've filed an extension, you could still participate in spirit!
A revelation, but it's more like a realization. Gun control is far from crime control at Walls of the City.
Carrying your gun is like wearing a seatbelt. Great post from Politics, Guns & Beer.
Here's an update on Don Hamrick's open carry case.
The effectiveness of European gun bans at Rhymes with Right. I guess they were quite effective for criminals.
Parker and the Militia -why it's important even today, at Front Sight, Press.
Heh. Acme Anvil Co. sheds light on Rudy Giuliani's claim that he will buy you a gun if you can't afford one.
And FYI, the gun blogging community is back up at TTLB.
Virginia Tech related submissions:
First, one good reason why the law-abiding need guns, at Crime, Guns, & Video Tape.
Secondly, and importantly, the tragic Virginia Tech massacre inspires 2A conversation. A blogger against guns, stands up for the Second Amendment. Change is gradual, embrace him.
Asking the right questions about Virginia Tech, at Absolutelee.com.
The War on Guns has the official Virginia Tech "workplace violence policy." It certainly served the murderer well.
The Liberty Zone is unfortunately, prophetic. More unfortunate, is the push for more disarmament.
Say Uncle compiles incidents of mass murderers vs. armed citizens. I like those odds too.
The right to arms, superseded by "the right to feel safe?" The Smallest Minority delivers.
Pro-Gun Progressive asks and answers what kind of gun control laws could have prevented this. And a bullet flying at you will always look the same as one from a high capacity magazine.
Confronting Evil at Xavier Thoughts: "...a person cannot run from evil. Evil will come unannounced, and a man cannot stand up against it if he is not prepared to do so."
And finally, LawDog on gun bans... and alcohol bans, cocaine bans, meth bans..., well you get the idea. (link fixed)
Editors note: The shootings that took place at Virginia Tech were a tragic loss of valuable life. The victims and their families have been in my prayers, and I believe it's safe to say the prayers and thoughts of all of this carnival edition's participants. I don't speak for other bloggers, but commentary on the Virginia Tech shooting in the realm of Second Amendment dialogue, is not about politicization of a tragedy, but properly about life and liberty. The victims, 32 of them were denied an inalienable right, and consequently had their lives stolen. Gun control may be politics in the beltway, but to people like me, it's much worse than that.

Stan;
Sorry I didn't hear about the carnival until today.
Check out joemerchant24.blogspot.com for some more 2nd Amendment blogging.
In particular, I want to invite you to look at the Just. One. Person. post.
Eh, the realization felt something like a baseball bat upside the forehead, so I figured it fell under the "revelation" category... ;)
