First, it rightly calls out Giuliani's about-face on gun rights; he was an anti-gun machine while mayor, and now he's an NRA pandering federalist.
The NYT totes the liberal line on guns, but only after playing gotcha with Giuliani, which in my opinion he deserves.
In a politically eerie coincidence, the multicity lawsuit previously led by then-Mayor Giuliani, accusing the gun industry of liability for the runaway gun culture, is being argued this week in federal court. As for the editorial part, we have name calling: "N.R.A.’s lock-n-load zealots," we have anthropomorphizing: "crime-making guns."
Not to mention a highly extensive and nuanced argument on just how to stop these guns from making crime: "gun control is the only way..."
So, per the scholarly work of the Times, it's safe to assume the link between criminals and 'carnage' (they changed it from 'crime' to 'carnage' in 2 paragraphs) has been spurious all along, as their more nuanced approach reveals the underlying causation thereof: guns.
The good news is that we can get more of this enlightening Pulitzer performance for free now!
