Last Update for this post. 7:40pm ET: Asa H. Coon, 14, who had a history of violence, shot and injured 4 people before killing himself. The shooting victims as reported: Darnell Rogers, 18; David Kachadourian, 57; Michael Grassie, 42; and an unidentified 14 year-old male; all of which are stable and recovering well. All are stable and well, except for Michael, whose condition is not being disclosed.

Other items of interest:

One unidentified student told MSNBC that the gunman wore a black trench coat, reminiscent of the 1999 shooting at Columbine High School in Colorado. The boy was frequently involved in fights, the student said. (LA Times)

Coon removed his slacks and a red and gray hooded sweatshirt and put on black jeans and Marilyn Manson concert T-shirt, Smith said.

When Smith saw Coon load a gun, he left but didn't tell a teacher.

Update 5:00pm ET: Asa Coon is the spelling of the name of the shooter being reported, though I find that unlikely. From students, Asa had threatened to stab everybody and blow up the school Friday. Students also say he was crazy. Also, reportedly, both weapons found on scene were both guns.

Wow: Coon was charged in 2006 with domestic violence.

???: One of the victims, 18 year old Darnell Rodgers, talking to reporters, says he is going to start a non-profit organization to stop violence in schools and increase security. Good for him, but the way he talks I have a hard time believing that was his idea.

Update: From the local television reporters, the shooter, (Asa Kune?) aged 15 or 14, took his own life before the police arrived. He was suspended from school recently for fighting, and may have returned for revenge. The injured are reportedly stable and recovering well.

Two weapons or more have been found on the scene. The whole thing may have been captured on surveillance video.

There's a lot of talk about metal detectors, and the reports of the school having those in place are contradictory. The school did have security guards.

The story is still developing, but from what is known, there are 5 injured and the shooter took is own life. Uh, these reports are changing as fast as I can type, just so you know. I don't know how many people were shot, but at least one injury was the result of fleeing.

Update: A Cleveland Fox affiliate has the latest, with video, photos, and a map:

Four people have been shot at Success Tech Academy, a Cleveland High School, at East 14th and Lakeside Avenue, police say.

Cleveland police say the shooter who opened fire is dead, and it appears he shot himself.
One shooting victim has been taken to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital, and three victims have been taken to Metro Health Medical Center.

Two adults and two students were shot and wounded at a high school near downtown Cleveland, officials said on Wednesday, and local media said the suspected shooter, also believed to be a student, was dead.

Mayor Frank Jackson said that two men aged 42 and 57 and two male students ages 17 and 14 had been shot but provided no other details.

"All the children are in stable, good condition," Jackson told reporters, adding that the two adults were in a more "elevated" condition.

"They have the shooter," he said without elaborating.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer quoting police sources said the shooter, who it had identified earlier as a 14-year-old boy, was dead but gave no details on how he died.

Jackson also said a third student, a 14-year-old girl, was injured in a fall during the incident at SuccessTech Academy, a specialized school that concentrates on math and technology.

NY Daily News says there are three shot, but I think they assumed that from the number of people carried out on stretchers.

The injured and the families affected are in my prayers.
