The logical thing to do is to ban them:
PHOENIX (AP) ― Phoenix Police have detained a 13-year-old boy after he allegedly pointed a laser at a police helicopter Monday evening.
Phoenix police say the helicopter was hit with a bright green laser light.

This poor kid was lying in bed and couldn't sleep so he grabs his little laser pointer and scopes out the sleepy nighttime street he lives on to see what he could spy with his little eye. No big suprise, a PHX PD Helicopter (The Arizona State Bird) was hovering over a neighborhood nearby. He points the laser at the PD bird and shortly there after, the Phx 5-0 are knocking on the door. They proceed to escort the straight A student out of his home and into a squad in tears. Now there are rumors of the procecutors making an example of this kid. Sick...
Number one, if the little laser lights are so damn dangerous, why are they marketed and sold to children?
Number two, why is there no indication on the lable that pointing said laser at a vehicle is unlawful?
Number three, where do they explain that normal mischivous behaviour will land you in juvie?
Nmber four Andrew Thomas is a jackass, a snob and a media whore. Damn lawyers... If he starts gunning for this boy, he's in for a fight.
Hear hear. Come to think of it, I do recall doing the same thing when I was his age, when laser pointers were new.
This is timeless and common boys-will-be-boys stuff, only it's clashing with the ever-increasingly common nanny-state syndrome.
The .gov is emasculating society, of course it's always for the common good.
Don't get me started on reckless endangerment, damn thing should be void for vagueness.
