Updates: The movie is online.
[See below for the update.] Or just hacked? The movie (if there even is one) was due for release yesterday. Except the official site doing the supposed releasing has been shut down:
This site has been suspended while Network Solutions is investigating whether the site's content is in violation of the Network Solutions Acceptable Use Policy. Network Solutions has received a number of complaints regarding this site that are under investigation. For more information about Network Solutions Acceptable Use Policy visit the following URL: http://www.networksolutions.com/legal/aup.jspThe British version of the site, appears to have been hacked. Here's a screenshot in case something changes, but maybe it wasn't hacked at all:
NO FITNA The Movie. It should be fairly obvious by now that there is no "Fitna" movie. No movie to insult Islam or Muslims or anyone else for that matter. The month of April is upon us, we all know the month of April starts with the 1st April and that day is famous for (practical) jokes.Yeah, it's not quite April Fools Day yet, but a joke is a joke, right? If it was a joke, it was damn excellent. Not only did Geert Wilders piss off millions of Muslims without releasing anything, he managed to prove a point that one can be censored for basically, nothing. Nothing empirical at least, only that Western appeasement of intolerant Muslims tends to trump free speech, even potential free speech. But then again, this British version, may have been a joke all along.
Holland might not be considered as a country with a great sense of humour but ever once in awhile even in Holland they crack a joke. So, bottom line; if you are here to find the Famous Fitna movie I guess you have been had !!!
If Wilders is a victim of Western censorship via appeasement, it's ironic. If of Wilders' creation, it's hypocritical, as he is no free speech advocate either:
The leader of the Netherlands' right-wing Freedom Party, Geert Wilders, has called for a ban on the sale and distribution of the Qur'an. He would also outlaw the book’s use in the mosque and at home. Mr Wilders says the Qur'an (Koran) is a fascist book which promotes violence and is similar to Adolf Hitler’s Mein Kampf.Nevertheless, if things are the way they appear regardless of the current state of confusion, more irony is at play. Network Solutions, who happened to host the currently suspended FITNA Movie site, also hosts Hezbollah's website. Yes, that Hezbollah, the declared terrorist organization. Interesting, that a U.S. based web hosting service gladly hosts the website of terrorists, but refuses to host Wilders' yet-to-be anti-Koran website/film. That looks less like respecting delicate sensibilities and more like picking sides. HotAir commenters are all over it [A big hat tip to them].
Joke or not, Wilders is riding high on this wave of publicity.
Last Monday I was for three television interviews a guest in Denmark...But is this 15-minute Armageddon-inducing video really coming out? Wilders says yes:
Soon, the short film Fitna on the Internet to see, at least for April 1 and no, it's not April 1st hoax. It is now high time for the short film.Perhaps the fool will be revealed on April 1st.
Update: Allah's been over this a few times since I posted:
Network Solutions (understandably) has had nothing to say about the matter. The facts as we know them: Hizbollah.org was up and running smoothly as of yesterday morning, then the righty blogosphere started complaining about NS registering domain names for terrorists while getting froggy with Wilders, then suddenly Hizbollah.org wasn’t online. Causation or coincidence? Report on Arrakis and the Jawas say it’s the former. Here's what Network Solutions has to say on censoring Wilders' website, now that they've finally said something about it:
Over the last month, Network Solutions received a number of complaints regarding the website FITNATHEMOVIE.COM. At the same time, our hosting customer for this site also made several public comments regarding their plans for the use of this site. In response to the complaints and the customer’s public comments, Network Solutions has made repeated requests to discuss the matter with our customer. We have also requested to review the planned content prior to it being loaded onto the site to determine whether the content violates Network Solutions’ Acceptable Use Policy. We are still waiting to hear from our customer. In the interim, we have temporarily suspended the site. You'd think a guy with a serious agenda getting so much publicity about his impending release of a controversial movie, would at least talk to the people shutting down his site, the one site dedicated to all of this... Don't you think?
Joke or not?
And as for Network Solutions... A bald-faced lie is no way to keep or attract more customers:
Network Solutions is by no means taking any action to limit freedom of speech or to preemptively censor content.

I think you may be on to something here. It's less than a week to April Fools day, so we won't have much longer to wait.
