First, they pretty much say you can't trust NRA members.
Now, it's the troops. There's good ways to boost morale, there's even bad ways to boost morale, and then there's the Secret Service way.

This is nothing new. A few years ago, Bush came to Norfolk to give a speech from the deck of a carrier that was in port (I believe it was the GW, but I'm not sure). Air Force One flew into and landed at Chambers Field here in Norfolk.
Not only were all operations shut down completely, but we were instructed that all hangar doors are to remain closed and no one was to leave the hanger on the airfield side for the duration that Air Force One was on the ground. No pictures, no gawking, no sneaking Peeks, nothing.
We are sailors and don't even normally have weapons except when on guard duty.
On the largest military installation on the East Coast...with controlled access and guarded gates.
What a sorry state of affairs we're in when our leaders are so fearful of their own MILITARY that they feel they must take such precautions.
Of course, his approval ratings do hover somewhere south of those for root canals and elective castration, so maybe the caution isn't so misplaced.
