But I told you so.As usual, Malkin got to it before I did, check out her post on what exactly Israel won.
While I'm on the subject, Clash of Civilizations blog, posted the complete UN resolution 1701, the uh, cease-fire deal. Here's some exerpts:
PP1. Recalling all its previous resolutions on Lebanon...Interesting
PP3. Emphasizing the need for an end of violence, but at the same time emphasizing the need to address urgently the causes that have given rise to the current crisis, including by the unconditional release of the abducted Israeli soldiersGo on
PP5.Welcoming the efforts of the Lebanese prime minister and the commitment of the government of Lebanon, in its seven-point plan, to extend its authority over its territory...
...for an immediate withdrawal of the Israeli forces from Southern LebanonAs soon as an adequate amount of Unifil troops get there or did you mean immediately???
PP6. Determined to act for this withdrawal to happen at the earliestHello?
PP9. Aware of its responsibilities to help secure a permanent ceasefire and a long-term solution to the conflictSo they weren't aware before this all started?
PP10. Determining that the situation in Lebanon constitutes a threat to international peace and securityDing ding!
OP2. Upon full cessation of hostilities, calls upon the government of Lebanon and UNIFIL as authorized by paragraph 11 to deploy their forces together throughout the South and calls upon the government of Israel, as that deployment begins, to withdraw all of its forces from southern Lebanon in parallelSo Israel still has to stop those Hezbollah rockets??? What exactly is the meaning of this whole resolution?
OP8. ...no foreign forces in Lebanon without the consent of its governmentThis must have been designed to fail.
And of course the words, Syria and Iran are nowhere to be found. There are no repurcussions for aiding Hezbollah. Fear guides our world leaders down a dangerous path.

Perhaps he's right, but the whole anti-semitic Arab world just got emboldened. Why worry, when we have the UN?

I don't think Israel wins big, but I do think they win in the end with this cease-fire, no matter how it plays out.Take a look at the scenarios he laid out.
...we need to quit worrying about whether terrorists can claim victory. As long as they breathe, they will claim anything as a stunning victory. It's like taking Stalin's farm forecasts seriously; only the chronic worriers bother.
